Michael Yeung

I am a recent graduate from the University of Southern California with a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and with a B.S. in Physics from Pepperdine University. Driven by a passion for advanced manufacturing and design, I aim to create innovative solutions that make a tangible, positive impact in the industry.

Outside of class, I am a graduate student researcher at the USC Center for Advanced Manufacturing Lab for two groups. I help with the development of a novel hybrid additive manufacturing (AM) system that integrates material jetting with vat photopolymerization to produce multi-material parts with locally tunable modulus and material gradients. I also bring hands-on experience in full-cycle Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) printing; from initial concept, CAD, and print preparation to the build process, post-processing, and testing. By combining my expertise in AM, materials science, and design, I continuously experiment with and push the boundaries of AM capabilities.

My academic and professional background reflects a strong foundation in engineering principles, process optimization, and AM development. Through my engineering internships and laboratory roles, I have honed my capacity for critical analysis, problem-solving, efficient production management, and building strong client relationships. Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy working on cars, tinkering, and film photography.​
